Columbine Appliqué -- Block 6 for the Buoyant Blossoms BOM

Since we would be gone this week, I put together March's block, the Columbine, for the Buoyant Blossoms BOM and got it ready to post.  As I write this, we are in Pascagoula, Mississippi, at the Hilton Gardens Hotel.  I'm writing my journal; it'll be posted tomorrow, hopefully.  I'm posting pictures as I get them edited, here.

So, without further ado, I present to you, the Columbine Appliqué block:

Here is the downloadable pdf file with the pattern:

Customer's Toy-Print Quilt

This evening I finished quilting a customer's toy-print whole-cloth baby quilt.  I used a pantograph called 'Tumblin' Teddy Bears'.

Swirling Lone Star Center of Christmas Tree Skirt Ready for Assembly

The diamond rays of the Swirling Lone Star center of the Christmas tree skirt are ready to be put together.  Each diamond is comprised of 45 small diamonds, so the entire Lone Star will have a total of 360 little diamonds in it.  I cut the small diamonds at 2 ½" x 1 ½".  The fabric is satin, taffeta, and brocade.

Christmas Tree Skirt Layouts

Here are a couple of choices.  Which do you like better?

I picked up the lone star picture online; mine will be made of burgundy and off-white satins, and some coordinating taffeta bits, too.  So this is just a general idea:

Wise Men Block for Christmas Tree Skirt

This is the last block for the Christmas Tree skirt.  It probably needs a star.  We'll see if I still think so... later.

Next, to put it all together.  I need 45° triangles between the blocks to make it a full circle.  Then I must extend it at interior and exterior edges until it's a good diameter.

Here are all the blocks together:

Second layout choice:

Baby Jesus in the Manger, version 2.0

That manger looked too stark and bare, so I decided it definitely needed some 'hay' around it:

One more block to go!   What shall it be, I wonder?

The topknot on the little lamb is terrycloth.

The swaddling clothes are made of unbleached muslin.

3D Poinsettia Block for Christmas Tree Skirt

Here is block #6 for the Christmas Tree Skirt I started before Christmas.  It's made of moiré taffeta, metallic taffeta, and satin, and is 10" square.  Two more blocks to go!

This was the first 'finish'.  But the more I looked at the picture, the less I liked it.

So I went back downstairs to my sewing room and added some ruching and a few more beads... and here it is in its New and Improved state:
